Flexible Assessment and Funding



Embedded into the language of ESSA is a promise for reducing high stakes standardized testing. It also opens up funding for states and districts to try out the next generation of assessments 


As ESSA moves deeper into implementation, states are starting to exercise more flexibility. This is especially true in Assessment. States are considering reducing the number of testing days and offering better more streamline assessments. Many states still see reading and mathematics as the building indicators of student achievement, although we are seeing a rise in science. 

RFPMatch Analysis 

Add flexibility to funding and this equals "innovative assessment pilots." We think this could result in a redefinition of what is assessment. Stay tune as we watch for the awards of the Innovative Assessment Pilot.  We are confident funding will continue as more states begin trying flexibility and innovative assessment strategies.
